Open-Water Swims
The prospect of swimming a long distance in open water—as a stand alone event or part of a triathlon—can be intimidating. Long-distance practice swims are increasingly popular, and necessary when preparing for open-water races. BYLG strongly advises athletes of all experience levels to participate in several open-water training swims before registering for, or participating in, any race in open water.

Whether a scheduled practice swim is for hundreds or just a dozen, BYLG works with race organizers and coaches to plan and supervise events that are safe and structured.
We advise on course design, entry/exit plans, swimmer accountability checks, and more.
The ideal practice swim offers experiences similar to those expected on race day, and BYLG can help replicate some common race conditions that are difficult to prepare for in a pool. Depending on the structure and schedule of the practice swim, we can provide on-site presentations, or address questions posed by athletes.
